I’ll read it closer when I get home. I have one comment that I think might improve understanding (if it is correct). If you make the field-lines larger so the tops of the field line circle overlap with the tops of the other field line circle, (same with bottom) then I think this concept makes more sense from a graphical point of view. The field-lines for each circle should cancel each other out which is the key here I believe.
